new component set

hmmm whats your price point?

you know me. i like my polks. they seem to be taking the power of my hifonics zeus pretty well.

i even disconnected my infinity plates. so the polk mids and tweets as well as the mtx mids are sharing 500 watts rms x 2. not that ive pushed then THAT hard. headroom i guess.

JBL also makes a very nice set. ive deff heard how good they can sound. most of the SQ guys ive heard run em.

 

I cant wait to hear my JBL's. If i were you, I would get these.

Kvo, what components have you heard that YOU really like the sound of? IF the sky was the limit for you...

You don't always have to buy new one. a lot of other forums have people selling some awesome component sets at a fraction of the price that are very well taken cared of. I got my focals (still waiting for them) for $250/set. they run over $800/set if you get them new.. That's just an example...

well, what do you like in a component set?

How do you like your highs? Natural? bright? calm?

Mids? strong?

midbass? very heavy? normal? just ok?

 

I put a set of those Polks in a buddies camry. Off of HU power they get pretty dam loud and sound dam good doing it. The midbass could be better for my liking but the doors werent deadened at all. that would help the situation out alot. Those are probably the highest end components i have heard around here. not many people care about speakers, just subs. One of my friends have JL components and they sound pretty good too. for the price the Polks beat them though. i thought they were about the same sound. The Polk Momos have a nice sounding tweeter. Very nice and smooth but still loud when you want it to be.

 

go with what you know then. Polk is a very good brand... if you like the characteristics of polk then stay with them.

the sound advice store near me sells em. the lower end ones sounded great. i was almost going to get a pair installed for 280 when i needed that money else where.

thats when i got my polks from circuit city on sale.
