so for the past year, i've been debating about getting a new car or truck. i've also tried to start saving, so i can put a good down payment on whatever i decide to get next. but the problem is, every option i have thought about, i think about how a system will sound in there lol. so i've basically ruled out anything with a trunk, for the hassle of it and i wanted something that was going to be a one cabin type deal (SUV, hatchback, truck, etc). I started looking at the scion xa because it was cheap, but quickly decided against it, for it seemed too girly. so lately, i've been looking at trucks...

how do you guys feel about american cars? i know a lot of you guys on here have american cars/trucks/suvs...i hear a lot of bad stuff about american cars because they say that they break down pretty quickly, as opposed to toyotas, hondas, and nissans.

if it helps, i've been looking at something 2005+ and current options are ford ranger or toyota tacoma.

no problems at all? i've been sort of leaning towards the ranger because its a few thousand cheaper than the tacoma

Mines a 2000 with 96,000 miles on it with a 5" lift and 33s and i have had no problems with it at all. Ive had this truck for 3 years and i wouldnt trade it for nothing.

Personally with all what the american car brands are going through now i would stick to an import like toyota. I do have a ford and it's been pretty good to me but the way that things are going with the car manufacturers i really don't know.

What do you have now Kvo?

Umm I have a 44 year old Ford with original motor that runs great. American made cars have terrible resale value as opposed to imports, but ford truck are great trucks and ranges are nice. How about the Ford Flex? I think they look dope.

well KVO if you are going with used then you can't beat the low prices of the american trucks and they are good... Toyota on the other hand is also very good and will hold it's resale value better and they are easier to dispose of at a later time without taking a big hit.

If you like the options and looks of the tacoma better then get the tacoma. it's a nice truck. maybe you should test drive a few and then make up your mind.

My Ranger is a 1993. Its been super reliable and I really like it.

With that said, my next vehicle will be a Honda Civic but I won't trade in my Ranger. I'll keep it, so far its the best vehicle I've ever owned

    He has a valid point

First off, i drive a ford! :/ Granted it is gettin kind of old and has about 180k on the odo. and i really don't have any problems with it, it has the 4.9 inline 6 in it, pretty tough motor, but i have alot of friends with toyota trucks as well as ford rangers. The Toyotas walk all over the fords, are better built, and hold their resale value way better than a ford. If i had the option, i would love to invest in a toyota, they are great trucks! It all boils down to the previous owners and how well they took care of the vehicle, and how well you would take care of the vehicle. IMO, the toyota would be the way to go.
