hey guys remember this box? well i had an idea for it. i tore the face off of it and now have a 90% finished box. so i plan to put a new face on there for the 12's. tuned to 30~32 ish like my 8's. all i need to do is get a small piece of mdf from lowes and im done. it worked for the eights. so it should flex like a mother with the 12's at 1 ohm and 700 plus watts @ 12.5v.
maybe i'll shot for 33 ~ 35hz. im surprised at how easy it was to remove the top of the box. a hammer and pry bar and that was it. i had it done in 5 min. then another 5 or so to remove the port baffles. now i was hitting then really hard to pop the staples out. when i put it back together im going to caulk it really well and throw some screws in it.
i was going to go to lowes today but my new tweets were waiting for me at home so i mounted them instead. http://cgi.ebay.com/db1000-25mm-Sil...3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66:2|65:1|39:1|240:1318 got em to my door for 35 bucks and they sound way better than those walmart tweets i had. way better!
oh right. i may still shoot up to lowes. i just noticed its still real early here. its 5:40 pm. i'll look for something and if i find some i'll do it either tomorrow after work or thurs.
now im ****ed. i built the box and tuned it to 30 like the 8's yet the sound is horrible. it sounds just like the one i tore apart. ill just use it for my HT and leave it be.
ok here is what my new HT sub set up looks like. also had an itch to recover the 8's. the 12's absolutely slam in the house, so there it stays. i watched the new hulk movie and holy crap i was impressed. it even knocked over some cd's off my computer desk.
even bought some new tweets last week. 35 bucks for the pair, and they are polks. couldnt do a flush mount due to my door being too shallow up top.
whats the outer dimensions of the enclosure and dimensions of the port?? maybe it isn't really tuned to 30Hz
38 wide x 18 deep x16.5 tall. port is 2.5 inches wide x 14.75 long. re site says its tuned to 29 and change.
sucks about the box you make but the recover on the box for the 8's looks great pedro... did you do that yourself?
