heres the specs: 4 Ohms: 2 x 49 watts @. 2 Ohms: 2 x 175 watts @. 8 Ohms bridged: 1 x 99 watts. 4 Ohms bridged: 1 x 350 watts. im told that they're heavily underrated and with the big 3 upgrade bringing me closer to 14.4v it'll put out close to 800watts @ 4 Ohms. there is also a 1-2 Ohm switch on the bottom. not sure if i want 2 12" or 2 15". i do know i want to keep the price between $400-$500 for a pair. i plan to build my own ported box. i'll take a picture and some measurements of my trunk. i have a 99' lincoln town car so trunk space is plenty. i should also point out that im more for SPL rather than SQ. I want that loud ass bump haha. so... help?
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=295-190 I've modeled this sub in WinISD and it looks like a good candidate
well i sort of like your idea about one 15" cause that will allow me to invest in other "enhancements" so long as it will be loud which im sure it will. are there any subs that are much better for $150-$250? azn i noticed u have an MA audio sub in your video. would you recommend that for me as well? oh and i could easily fit a 24" tall box in my trunk.
Well...the MA Audio sub is not permanemt...it is my friends which he is not using. For what it is (600 watt rms power handling) it is a pretty good sub. It is the third to highest line of subs MA has. I would not recommend anything under the XL series of MA Audio subs. It takes 800 watts easily for a lil while if the bass lines are too continuous. I forgot to mention. This sub will DEFINITELY do the job you are looking for and does not need an overly big box to perform at its best. http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=36 I am buying the 19Ov.2 here soon.
that looks like something i might be interested in. sucks there aren't any local car audio shops that carry those subs. the closest one is in akron(15 miles) called Century 2000 but they don't carry many brands im interested in plus they hate me cuz they know my boss quite well as the guy that blows his subs out every month( he has two 12" crossfires) and they put a 1 yr. warranty on all of there subs meaning they always have to replace his stuff. I'll be getting the money for everything very shortly soon as some ebay auctions finish up. so would i want the d2 or d4 version? the amp has a 1-2 ohm switch. also is the 19Ov.2 much better than the 16? if so i may be willing to go 50$ more
well...the 19Ov2 is an 18 inch sub compared to the 16Ov.2 which is a 15 inch sub...the 19Ov will handle a little more power but both can take 1000 watts all day. I am getting the 18 incher because I want some ground pounding bass...and because no one I know has an 18 inch sub. All of the Elemental Designs subs carry a 5 year warranty...can you find any other company that has that??? and they pay for shipping the product back also...atleast with my experiences with them. And if you blow it because of your user error...a recone will prolly cost less than half the price of a new one so it ain't bad for a newly rebuilt sub
i like the sound of that. i was told that an 18" sub will sound distorted and will basically sound like crap compared to a 15" but i sort of doubt that. perhaps you can elaborate haha. well given all of this i think thats what im going to get. the 19Ov2. plus i have another similar reason. noone has one at my school. im 18 and a junior just for comparison. lol. well soon as i get measurements tomorrow we can get designing on a box hopefully.
Haha...whoever told you that is retarded. An 18 will sound JUST as good as a 10 inch woofer...if in the right ENCLOSURE. yeah if you start off with a 20 dollar 18 inch woofer it will be hard to make sound good but it CAN if in the right enclosure. Tell your buddy who told you that 18s sound like crap compared to 15's to go f*ck himself/herself and that they don't have a clue about what they are talking about. Elemental Designs is all about sound quality also. I am only 18 and I am graduating in a couple weeks...So i'm getting myself my final system. I already have an Elemental Designs Nine.1 amp. Very sturdy amp and powerful. I've had about 10 different setups in the past couple years...now I wanna settle down. Make my sh!t be loud AND sound good. Sorry for rambling...well I'm going to bed now...peace out. Take er easy.
well what enclosure design to u recommend? i estimate i have at least 5ft3 of space in my trunk before taking any actual measurements. would a box any larger than that be needed?
A larger box would not be needed...The ED recommended boxes work very well. They don't just recommend like 3-6 cu ft. They actually recommend what size and tuning to do. I'd just do the "DD Loud" recommended box. DD Loud meaning Daily Driving Loud
sounds good, thing is though will it produce that bass that carries to all the cars around u and shakes the **** out of em? haha
Well...right now the MA Audio sub I have can annoy the crap outta people around me at stop lights The other day I was at a stop light and turned up J.E.E.Z.Y. by Young Jeezy and this old guy next to me about jumps outta his van when the bass started hitting and started to yell at me to turn that sh!t down....I just looked at him and said "yeah...whateva" lol It will also rattle and shake the crap outta your car
jeezy like to drink, jeezy like smoke, jeezy like to mix arm and hammer with his coke haha. thats what im lookin for. also what do you think about having two 19Ov.2s?
You would need atleast 600 clean watts rms for each. If you can fit it...go for it. I would...but I am a single sub setup guy. I like to see what I can do with one sub.
hmmm ya im not so sure that autotek has the balls. are there any decent amps for around 300 that could power two 19Ov.2s?
spend a lil more and the Nine.1 is a good match. Or http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_6336_Hifonics+BXi+1606D.html http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_6190_Power+Acoustik+A2400DB.html http://www.cardomain.com/item/CRUGP2500D
would u pick the Nine.1 before any of those? considering im doing the big 3 upgrade and what not i would probably have more than 12.5v goin to the amp, how much more wattage do you think it would put out? also if i do get the Nine.1 what version of the 19Ov.2 should i get? D2 or D4? What ohms could i run the whole system at?
I would definitely choose the Nine.1 over any of those amps. I love my Nine.1 I am getting a Dual 2 ohm...wiring the Nine.1 for a 1 ohm load...it can easily put out 1200 watts at 12.5 volts for sure...but I would only set it with a DMM for around 800-900 watts rms. Then you have HEADROOM...you won't be pushing the amp at its limits and will not clip the amp and fry the sub. If you can send the amp a clean unclipped signal...and feed it a steady 13.8 volts...I would expect around 1500 watts rms out of the amp. Some people have gotten 1600 watts rms out of the amp...that is true watts also as using a meter and an oscilliscope
