Do you have a line level converter?? Or does your amp have built in high level inputs??

Remote wire could sourced from the switched wire

hmm...should have gotta a pac trunk loc...converter and has a remote lead...well you can just tap into the switched wire/ignition....the wire that feeds a 12 volt when the key is turned

what kind of car? what year? special radio ecition or amything odd? and does the car have a power antena?

If it has a power ant/remote turn on, I suggest usiong it over the ignition source, that can eliminate some serious turn on/turn off THUMP/POP

Did a little research, sorry , i did not find the info you need. In that case you will need a meter or computer safe test light to check which wire on the radio is the power ant. lead If not, then go to the ignition source as a last resort.... wish i could have been more help.

Ranger knows a little bit on this stuff, he is much more up to date than I am on nwer cars, maybe he can help you out....

Well...couldn't you use a resister inline with the ignition to get rid of the turn on thump???

No, the probelm is sometimes the amp turns on BEFORE the HU, or it turns off AFTER the Hu. then during the power up and power down of the HU, sometimes they emmit a small voltage spike, that the amp, amplifies as a load pop. A resistor would only limit current flow to the remote turn on. Sean, you could go ahead and hook it up to ignition, you MIGHT get lucky and have no pops. Or maybe if it does have one it is very minimal. If it is loud, could always put a switch in line with it too turn the amp on after the HU is on and turn the amp off before the HU is shut down. Or just track down the info for the remote lead on the factory HU and do it right!

Is this a bad idea if I hook the remote to the power wire and hook it up to a swicth to cut it on or off?

its fine....just remember to turn the amp off after turn your car off or the amp will stay on and slowly drain your battery

Foriegn cars are really flacky when it comes to using the power antenna lead as an amp turn on. In most cases I would not recommend it. I'm gonna agree with Azn. Get a Trunk Loc by PAC if you want the amp to turn on and off with the radio. If its O.K for the amp to be on whenever the ignition is on then locate any ACC source. I recommend locating this source at the ignition switch.

I dont get to spend much time here anymore, way too much homework.
