I have a 99 pontiac firebird and was thinking about buying a stealthbox like this can you recomend a what type of sub to but in this box I like nice clean loud bass and was thinking of going with just one sub in the price range of 150-250 i don't have a amp yet i will buy one to match up with the sub I chose if anybody have any advice please let me know. Thank You
I've use one of those once and it worked well. But that depends on what you mean by loud. It will definately be an improvement but no earth shaking bass. Any woofer that will work in a small sealed enclosure will work for you. Now, every manufacturer will tell you that their woofers will work. If you wanna do a little research (i've posted this before, but what the heck) get the specs on the woofer (Thiele /Small Parameters). Take fs and divide it by Qes and you will get some number That number will tell you (or give you an idea) what type enclosure that woofer will work best in Less Than 50 Sealed Between 50 and 100 Either sealed or ported More than 100 ported Now for Efficiency. I don't give much credence to the efficiency rating when it comes to woofers because it rates the woofer at 1000 Hz. I don't personally care what my woofer can do at 1000 Hz. However, I might consider that rating only if the amp is a lower power amp (200-300 Watts or less). And then only if there is a big difference in the Spl rating.
The nice thing about that car is the nice tranfer function it has. Like Ranger says, any good sub that will work in a smaller enclosure will do fine.
what about jl mtx or rockford, I really don't know where to start I just want something that pound in a small box
I'm a Polk Audio fan myself. And I don't like recommending brands, because 90% of your performance has to do with the box, not the speaker. All of the brands you mentioned are well known and they should work.
if its a jl box or like a jl box why not a jl sub.? or.... i have a friend that bought a dynex 10 at best buy for 30 dollars new.he bought it in the box that they were demoing it in.it sounded really nice.unfortunatly he smoked it cause he is a dummy and maxed out his amp and bass boost, but wiyh an inexpencive 200 wat amp it should give you years of use http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...t&productCategoryId=cat03081&id=1169512771978 http://cgi.ebay.com/Phoenix-Gold-R2...6QQihZ002QQcategoryZ64570QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem this will get you started for CHEAP.

my buddy just got two MTX 5500s in a road thunder box with side vents powered by a 1400w boss rage amp that his bro had. pretty loud i must say, compared to what else i've heard id probly rate it at least 145db and it sounded pretty decent as well.

I was playing a cd of mine through it today and noticed it doesn't hit lows very well though. Most noticeable was throw it up from lil jon. 145 might be an over shot but he claims its louder than that and I call BS on that. plus the subs are sitting right behind you in his truck, its extended cab. When he was driving away though I could here it about a 1/4 mi. away.
