Hi Im running 2 MTX 8500 Thunders 12 inch subs and i want to know if anyone has a sledgehammer box for sale or could help me find specs to build one just like the sledgehammer. I have called the mente corp. (MTX) and they wont sell me just the enclosure. i really dont want to spend 1200$ on two subs in a box(thats what they charge at my local shop) i bought both subs for under 600$ now i need a box and i love the way the sledgehammer looks.

Can't you call mtx and just ask the tech about enclosures...a guy on another forum had the tech design him a huge 6th order bandpass enclosure...just tell them what you want and they should help you....don't just ask how do i build the sledghammer box

please define "6th Order" bandpass??????? Is it a single reflex with 12 dB per octave x-over? or a dual reflex not crossed over.....??????

Thats why i dont use the term ORDER for bandpass enclosures. the x-over is included in the equation!!! Its iether a dual or single reflex design!

Not slammin you azn, just bein a dick!!!!!! lol!!!!

They used to throw around those terms when I first got into this business back in the early 90's. 4th order, 5th order, 6th order and it goes on and on. I even heard of a 12th order once.

Make it stop, please make it stop!!!!!!!!

yes everything had an order back then because so may people ran amps mixed mono (remember that term) with passive crossovers for everything. And yes i agree please maki go away.I also remember the 12th order it was on sounstreams tech sheet for the spl 160.And jl had some with this guy for the explanation of how it sounded they called him moe:eek: .
