    Hello All

I need some advice on speakers, I just had the following Stereo and Amp below installed into my SUV and the speakers the guys at circuit city suggested really blow and wanted to know if anyone could suggest something better to get the max volume and clearity from my system. (type of music played most is Rock and Metal if it matters)

I'm a Novice at the Car Audio thing so I may not have made the best choices in Stereo and Amp but I'm stuck with it now :)

    Stereo
    Pioneer AVIC-D1 Head Unit

    MOSFET 50W x 4

    Amp

    Eclipse EA4000

    Power (watts RMS into 4 ohms x channels) 75 x 4
    Power (watts RMS into 2 ohms x channels) 75 x 4
Distortion (THD%) at rated power .05%
    Bridged power x channels (4 ohms) 150 x 2
    Peak power x channels (watts) 400 x 1
Signal to noise ratio (dB) >90 dB

    SUB
    BassLink Self Powered Sub

    Power Output: 200W
    Frequency Response (±3dB): 20Hz - 100Hz
Variable Bass EQ: +3dB to -6dB at 45Hz
    Variable Electronic Crossover: 50Hz - 120Hz

Current speakers Circuit City suggested / installed

    Eclipse 6-1/2" 3-Way Coaxial Speaker (SE8365)

    6-1/2” speakers
    40 watts RMS
    3/4” super tweeter •3-way design
    Hybrid mica cone
    Variable crossover

If someone could suggest what would work best for volume and clearity with the head unit and amp above I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks

well your head and amp ARE good choices.i hear good things about the eclipse and i have a pioneer head and love it(not that model,7800).

i used to have a set of polk6.5db's they were nice.i sold them to a friend and we put them in his 2000 silverado.on radio power alone they sound really good.good midbass output.
you might ask why i got rid of them.well...i upgraded to some mtx comp's.bad choice.wish i still had the polk's.

i think CCity still sells them for 99.00 ,and might still have the buy one get one for 1/2 off.

    I feel your pain, Grimm.

I bought 4 of those for the wifes Ranger. Off the radio they sucked. Got an Alpine HU, they sucked. Got a Kenwood Excelon 541 4 channel amp, they sucked. Got a JL W3 and a JL 250/1 to run that, and the sub sounded great, the speakers sucked. Alpine head unit died, upgraded to an Excelon HU, and they sort of sucked a little less.

Joined up on this site, did some modifications, and followed these folks good advice, and they suck a lot less.

These are the 3 way 5x7's. And shortly, I will be pulling these sucky speakers out and getting something that's worth a crap. Like a Radio Shack 1 way or something. Anything but these Fujitsu 10 piles of dog crap.

Course, I forgot to add the speakers I do like.

I am totally happy with the Kenwood 668 2 way's (I think that's the number) in my Ranger. But, I don't believe they make them anymore.

the head unit and amp are a good combo but i would run the bass link alone and use the amp to power the component speakers an tweeters but the setup sounds good for good sound quality nothin BOOMEY
