I currently have a 5-Channel Alpine MRX-V60 (basically a cheaper version of the PDX-5) that gives off 300 Watts RMS @ 2 Ohms for the subwoofer channel. The Enclosure is sealed and is somewhere between .60-.80 cu ft of space. Musical taste is varied including Hip-Hop, Popular Chart (IE Pitbull and Katy Perry), hard rock and occasional classical. Car is a Acura RSX Hatchback where sub will be in the rear, and budget under $300. Currently have a Eclipse HU and Polk components in the front. Recommendation from Crutchfield chat was a JL W3v3-2Ohm. I was originally interested in the original Alpine Type-R 1042 (500 RMS Power), but people were saying you really need a 500-600 RMS watt amp to power it correctly, so I have no idea which one is best suited to my amp. Other ones I was thinking might work were the Fosgate P3 Punch 1040 (400 RMS), Polk Audio MM (or Signature Reference), Kicker, the JL or some others I might not of heard or thought about. Looking for something that really comes alive on bass heavy music (Hip-hop), but doesn't rattle the trunk (only the chest), yet I can tone down for just regular music and not too muddy for rock (can hear the bass guitar and kick drum). Thanks for any help/suggestions.
