    I currently have 4 12's 2 1300 Watt sony explod 380 RMS (4-ohm). 2 Kicker CRV 07s @ 2-ohms 800 watts each 400 rms.

I plan to be getting 2 of the same amps to push them i plan on ordering this wed when i get paid but i would like some opinions as well as help on what i will need as far as a new battery or id prefer to simply get away with a capacitor or maybe 2? but i dont know much about them..i would like to keep everything as cheap as possible.

the amp i plan to get is a 1500 Watt Monoblock planet audio specs from site

    IMPORTANT

Also the head-unit is a sony explod like 45x4W. But the big thing is i only have one set of of Pre-amp outputs i currently have 2 amps hooked up but through each other i can link them. But this amp does not seem to have the ability to do that so how could i hook both amps up with this head unit

All help is very much appreciated

A capacitor, with that amp. Now thats funny. I've dealt with Planet amps for years and they love power and as long as you feed them, they will deliver. Forget the caps.

This is how you handle a Planets Amps Power Needs

A capacitor or two, now thats funny. A cap with my Kenwood works well, a cap or two with a Planet amp, forget it

oh well so what do i need then? a special battery for them? how would i go about doing that and what would be a good *affordable* battery solution.

Notice that the battery is near the amp. That is the key. Planet amps are tough and I've used them for years. But they are power hungry. The closer the amp is to the battery the better. Especially with the class D amps.

Kinetik make some really small batteries that have plenty of power. I've never used them but a friend of mine has.
He uses this http://www.kinetikaudio.com/2009/product.asp?C=1&P=KHC600 on his Planet Audio AP2000D. It seems to work well.

thats so pricey though..could i go to like walmart and get say just a smaller cheap car battery?

also one of my main concerns too is that my head unit only has one pre amp how will i be able to hook both amps up could i just use a splitter?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong plz.

You could split the signal with two RCA Y cables, but you'd probably get signal degradation from sharing.

    A splitter like this :

yeah thats what i was wondering if i could do but i was also worried about what you said maybe a weakend signal.

Right now i wire my amps together one of them has rca out as well. but these amps dont appear to.

Yes you can, but car batteries need to be in a battery box and vented to the outside

In this case the battery is in a sealed box. there is a vent under the box, that travels under the false floor.

The key is that the battery needs to be close to the amp

The other option are gell cell batteries, no gas, no need to vent.

Perhaps you've had a weakened signal all along? I don't know if the newer amps' preouts are just tapped into the inputs or are pre-amped from the amp. Maybe one of our Pros here can comment if they are. Maybe you could get an RCA signal booster for the second amp if its a problem.

    Something like this:

oh yeah thats possible i dont know either i know that my system right now is EXTREMELY underpowered as far as the amps go (compared to subs) but it still kicks quite hard

You could split the RCAs 10 times and still not have a noticeable loss.

But if you split them 11 times....your screwed! LOL!!!! Just kidding!

Ranger is heading you in the right direction for power to the amps... Listen to him. Dont waste your hard earned cash on a cap...they are a joke...

amps love power, and they like it in droves when pushed hard....a cap WILL NOT do that...a battery will

Look into the automotive electrical of this site for more info

    Now now...

I remember when a salesman at a store I worked in sold a 4-Gauge amp kit and a cap to install with a head unit. There were NO amps in the car. He actually wanted me to install the head unit with that stuff. I refused to install it and made him return the accessories.

thanks so i picked up an Alpine MRP-M500 (1000W) Mono D for 125 bucks figured i can still get a planet audio but for now this would be good but im having issues..

I cant seem to get them to push like i want them like my system was hitting harder especially my kickers and they were only hooked up to a 1000W 2-channel Pyramid brand amp.

But i did have them running in 2-ohm mode but this alpine is supposed to support 2 ohm loads also but is very poor seeming..and on top of that if i turn the Amps Variable gain over half it makes a popping sound and immediatly cuts the power to the Subs and i have not a clue why??

Im just hoooking them up to my kicker cvr's which i would think that the alpine should make them rock..

please i need a lot of personally help and i know not a single person i can personally go to for help.

    1. Already knew its 1000 watts MAX...it says 1000 watts its listed as 1000 watts. so in the description i used 1000 watts..i know the RMS
    2. no i didnt
    3. yes u are correct they were wired down to 1ohms which somehow a pyramid 2 channel amp was able to do but this alpine couldnt lol? still dont understand how.

Ok des...lets start with a couple of things here to be sure you are getting proper power to the amp.

first, i would like you too check the ground, or better yet, redo it....not saying what you did was wrong, just if you follow this we will know its in good condition. Keep the ground wire as short as practical, and use the same gauge wire as the power wire. When securing it to the chassis of the vehicle, sand away all paint and drill a hole, secure the ground wire with a nut and bolt...then spray paint it to prevent corrosion.

Next, be sure you read the section on the big 3 in our automotive electrical section...do that too! Amplifiers are very thirsty for current, and we need to give it to them so they perform as expected.

Next lets look at the subs...could there be a bad voice coil? perhaps tensile leads that are shorted? check for any dead shorts between the sub wires and from the sub wires to ground...

Give some of that a look and see what you find...I just wanna be sure you are covering the basics first before we move on

Thanks..i do know the power and the grounds are the same size the grounds are very short and are bolted to my trunk..however they are bolted together (not seperate spots) (i have 2 amps) also i did not sand it down so i guess i could do that.

How do i check for damage i dont think my kickers are hurt but there have been a couple times i was curious but really i dont hear any distortion or anything my sony's only have 1 voice coil..and i cant tell if i hear distortion or its my car making noises from the base or maybe the box (i made 2 ported boxes myself) But how would i check 2 see if they are blown kicker said that would mean dismantling the sub..which im not going to personally attempt
