Alright guys heres my plan. My cousin has a 1997 Ford Contour with what has to be one of the worst stock sound systems I've EVER heard. Now on that note my idea as a gift for her b-day is none other than.... duh duh duh duhhhhh A NEW SOUND SYSTEM FOR HER CAR! Hookay so, I'd like to keep it under 250$ for a new HU and four 5x7 speakers. I've had my eye on the DB571s from polk. I can get them off of ebay for about 70$ a pair. Any other thoughts or suggestions? MOVING ON! As for the HU I was thinking a lower end Kenwood with a remote. Any other thoughts or suggestions? MOVING ON! So my question to you guys is what do you feel would be the optimal system for under 250$? She loves her music and never really has the chance to enjoy it on a decent system. Now I know 250$ isn't going to get her something thats gonna blow everything out of the water but at least it will have some mid bass and some clean highs that she can crank way up and not have to worry about them blowing up or distorting. I know u guys have some great suggestions!:p

i would focus on the head unit a front speakers.leaveing the rears for fill.

i have some polk 6.5's and they sound really good to me.
i took mine apart and made some comps out of them.

i had some other mounts laying around for that.so dont try that.lol.(i was board)

i like pioneer heads for thier features, but its up to you.

does she need an ipod controller?alpines come ready for that.others you need to buy adaptors.

    eq's,built in crossovers?

the head will be a difficult choice.good luck, but the speakers.....i would go with the polks.maybe a little deadner in the doors too.i think you can find a door kit for under 10$.will help with some rattles.

Ok well heres my plan based off what you suggested. I'll go ahead and grab a DEH-P5900IB along with the polk momos and those ford speakers for rear fill. Sound good?

well how do you think those ford speakers sound compared to the momos? probably not near as good but for the money difference would it be worth it?

get the nice speakers for the front.who knows one day an amp might be powering them.

as for those ford speakers.they will sound ok.maybe not as good as the polks, but they will be in the rear.so it should work out just fine.

had i known i wouldnt be running my rear 6x9's like i run my front speakers.i wouldnt have payed 149.00 dollars for them. i would have settled for a way cheaper nice sounding pair.

Stay with the Polks for the front. If the factory rears sound OK lets leave them alone for now. Put the rest on a good HU. I like the Pioneer HU suggestions I've seen so far
