ok tonight i put in my hifonics vulcan in the little space where the jack goes into to run my rear fill. jack still fits too. got tons of mid bass now! 100 per door. sounds even better. well anyways while back there i had the stereo on at a low vol and my sub was buzzing. as soon as i touched the cone it stopped. any slight pressure on it made it stop. it plays fine and i dont hear it from the drivers seat, and i dont know how long it's been like that. any ideas what it could be? i'm not too worried as i will be getting that D2 L7 10 in a week or 2.
no one? oh well. i'll just keep blasting away on it till it dies for good. it reads a 2.2 ohm load so i know a coil didnt go on it.
check the tinsel leads pedro. I had a sub that did that to be before and it turned out that one of the tinsel leads was partially ripped. I do hope that isn't the case with your L5
take the sub out and play it free air and see whats making the buzzing noise...I think those are two piece cones I'm not 100% sure but if so the sound may be the two parts vibrating against each other
it will be dead soon lol, try pushing the cone in gently while it's playing and see if the sound cuts out. Did you order the L7 already? I need to get a descent amp grrrr lol
it did cut out when it was pushed in. hell all i had to do was just rest my finger on it and it quit. oh my sis must be def too. it still has the buzz. she thought it was a panel or something else. oh and electro another member from a forum has one for sale,a nd he is willing to take payments on it. since he's in no rush to sell it. so after my sis leaves and i re check my finances i'll most likely get it.
it does not act like its going to die soon at all. it can still move some air and ruffle your hair. at higher vol's it sounds normal.
take a look at the wires from the terminals into the cone, the same thing happend to my 12's. all u gotta do is put some solder on em and its good as new. i think it is from so much wattage going trough them for certain periods of time. just take it out of the box, play it and if at the terminals it is sparking, that is ure problem.
If the sound cuts out when you push in on the cone that sub will definitley be toasted soon, trust me i'm an expert on frying subs haha. Try the same thing with your orions i bet the sound doesn't cut out.
R.I.P. along with the rest haha, some day i'll get it right. I think i found out why i fry everything i touch, besides other things happening like my deck shorting inside and bad or loose wiring, it's my stupid mp3 cd's, NEVER AGAIN will i play an mp3 in my system. You have to turn up the bass in the eq, turn up the gain, turn up bass boost which makes everything run hot and send crappy signals to the amp. I put in a storebought cd in and holy crap, had to turn down the sub to -22 turn down the eq and everything else and i don't have to turn up the deck as much so now everything is running cooler, don't have to send a signal to the back that is cranked way to high on the bass frequencies to make up for the mp3's missing bottom end. MP3 CDS will kill your system----I'm 100% sure on this now, like how can i fry basically everything i touch lol, i'm not that much of a dumbass..
lots of different brands. power bass sound stream the BIG ones. goliaths. clarion 1500's Incriminator audio mmats memphis cant think of others
ok update. i took the sub out of the box and everything is secure,no loose connections or broken tinsel leads. the noise is still there. turns out my sis is......well.....my sis. apparently when i asked she didnt know what she was listening for. should have known better. all she knows is shoes and hand bags. lol. ima email the guy with the L7 and hope he brings it to this sundays show.
yup d2 ftw. and yes one this sun with another on the 29th even closer to home. i just emailed the guy asking if he was coming and if so to bring it.
