Mixmatch sub and amp?

    I have a kicker cvx 12" hooked up to a rockford 501s(1500 watt, 2 channel). My sub is 4 ohms. It bumps pretty hard but only for about 10 minutes before it cuts out. I was told that I have a mixmatched sub and amp. Does anyone know if this is true? Suggestions?

    Means your amp cannot handle the impedance load...what impedance is the sub???

    I'm sure the CVX's are not single coil...but at the same time I'm not sure.

    Could be to low af an impedance for the amp

    Could be poor Gound

    Could be poor electrical system

    Could be you dont know the limit of your system

    Could be the amp is junk

    Could be the tensile leads shorting out

    Could be head unit

    Could be ..........etc.....................
