Ok, I have an Adire 15" Tempest woofer and I will be getting a Pioneer cd deck to put in my car. The question is what type of amp will be good for this combination, mind you that the Tempest woofer is massive for all you that know. Does anyone have any suggestions???
well I'm guessing that it is dual 4 ohm. How much are you willing to spend?? Have you upgraded your big three yet??
Well for that price range...I'd say this amp http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=14934
Is the tempest a home audio subwoofer?? check out ikesound.com, look at the Hifonics bx1205d, at 175$ and 1 ohm stable its a good buy. It pounds my 2 ppi 12 to thier max and does not even get warm.
Um...it'd be getting 600 watts from that hifonics. lowest wiring is 2 ohms. That kenwood amp is the most watts per dollar you can really get...
well just quoting the numbers.. http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=14803 Hifonics RMS Power Rating: 1200 watts x 1 chan. @ 1 Ohm RMS Power Rating: 900 watts x 1 chan. @ 2 Ohms http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=14934 Kenwood RMS Power: 900W x 1 @ 2 ohms RMS Power: 900W x 1 at 1 ohms Thats what's listed for power ratings of the two in question.
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=17203 if you really want to put that much power on it.. CEA-compliant amp there. or if you just want 600 watts.. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_6471.html for a CEA-compliant amp.
so it would be better to get an amp around 600 watts or what is the watts i should be looking for if i have that speaker?
you want to at least match the rms with a cea - compliant amp to get optimum power. If its not CEA-2006 stamped its better to go above the RMS because it usually doesnt put out exactly the stated numbers little less usually.
Um...in theory when the load is doubled the output is halved. So there is no way the Hifonics could put out 900 watts at 2 ohms and 1200 at 1 ohm Also I suggested the Kenwood-9102D because you can set it for around 600 watts rms. It is better to get an amp that has a higher power rating than your subs...more dynamic range of power. Runs cooler...less likely to clip and blow the sub....simple as that
just pick one is your price range. your budget is going to have a larger effect on your amp choice than bickering about how many watts so and so amp really puts out. Any amp that has been mentioned will get the job done.
