Hey guys this is my first post and I had a few questions. Im sure you get this alot but I dont really even know where to start. I have an 87 Gti that is pretty much a show car and the last thing I would love to do is put in a great audio system. I have a pretty decent hookup with JBL so I can get things for some what cheaper. so suggestions would be great =) so heres my question how should I start im not looking for any comp. style stuff just something thats going to sound great i like my music loud and bassy but still really clear I hate that rattly crackly sounding bass like ever kid thinks is amazing.....I pretty much listen to House, trance, jungle etc....So what components would you suggest? Im going to be getting everything head unit subs interiors etc.. any help would be awesome. Thanks so much for the help!!!! Im sorry I tried to search but I didnt know what to search for or any of that im completely new to this car audi thing so please bare with me...
First off...budget...what is your max?? Speakers...look around and listen to different ones...whatever sounds good to you Amp...depends on your budget Sub...budget Sub amp...budget And a lot of sound deadener/dampener (Dynamat, Second Skin, etc.)
Well lets say not an unlimited budget but i dont mind spending the extra money on something that will sound the best or close to the best you know? I hate doing things half ass... Oh and i have a chitload of deadener in my car the pretty much the entire back is right now...I have a custom pergo floor in it and under that is all padding and on my ceiling etc so. I need some suggestions on what people use and what i should go with as far as mating components
Dude give us a $$$ figure. Dont just say "a little extra". To some of us a little extra is 5000. and some of us its 500.$ Give us a real dollar figure that you are willing to spend and im sure all of us will come up with a bunch of stuff that will work great for you.
Deadener in the trunk will help the bass...but I was talking about on the doors...like put deadener on the WHOLE DOOR...well basically large faces of metal where sound can be absorbed....doing the whole floor will help with keeping road noise out
Yeah my doors are going to get done soon then cause i want it to sound pretty good and i have some sound deadner that my step father gets from work not dynamat but good none the less...
Is it Ice and Water Shield?? Industrial sh!t??? On the12volt a guy did his whole car almost twice for 70 bucks....doors, roof, and trunk....all with Ice and Water shield from Lowes...70 bucks for 108 square feet...was gonna get some but it is a Fuking HUGE roll But I'm just wait and get some Dynamat Extreme from a buddy who works at a car audio shop...36 feet squared for like 50 bucks

Ah yes, more amps with class d technology! i think d stands for dumbass!!!!! LOLOLOL!!!!! Sorry guys! just phuckin with ya! All this "new" technology refrains from allow the amp to do what it can. what with current limiting, over voltage protection, thermal rollback of the power supply,, NAH, yall can have it. I prefer the old school unlimited power supplies, no voltage regulation, and bipolar outputs run in class a/b config that allow the amps to basically run and run with ALL thier might. Kind of like a race car though, ccant respect the power, you blow the engine (amp) I remember a 280GX orion in my car back in about '91 or 2, had a switch run to my alrternator to full field it and kick out 19.4 volts. That was like the amps from the movie "Spinal Tap"... "my amps go to 11" says nigel! HA HA!!! I loved that movie! anyway, give me freedom to run my amp respectfully unlimited or give me a kraco 40 watt power boosterand a pair of jensen triaxes with a clarion hi-way fidelity head unit with a dolby type b NR and chrome tape stting. Oh and a set of home audio speakers in the trunk to set n the roof of the car running off a 500 watt half din eq for the times the car is at the creek.... THATS some REAL AUDIO PERFECTION!!!!!! LOL!
