Hello, I am very new to car audio. My girlfriend's cd player just died in her car (2003 Mitsubishi Galant) and I was going to replace it for her as a gift. As I said i know very little in this area and am just looking for some advice. She is using the factory speakers and will continue to do so. From what reading I have done, Alpine and Pioneer both seem to make very nice high quality units. I would probably be leaning toward Pioneer because I believe they are a bit more economically minded in their pricing, but would be open to any reccomendations. Feature-wise I think a fairly simple unit will do the job; an audio line in for mp3 player/ipod playback would be nice. But other than that just looking for a good simple head unit. Thanks in advance!

mentioning ipod playback...the one pioneer deck that comes to mind to keep it a nice clean install with no wires showing is the DEH-2100IB, just because it includes the ipod cable. Other than that...all the pioneer decks do have an AUX input on them to use for any type of external player..not just an ipod.

[heh, my first post as well..hope it helps!]
