I have two kicker 25 anniversary edition subwoofers they call for 600 watts max at 2 ohms can i use a kicker 08zx1000.1 amp which if i wire it for 1000 at two ohms to the two of them without hurting them..... or is thier another amp someone recommends for them ......
600 max each? if so then they are about 300 rms. 500 rms each could be a bit much. look for an amp that will do closer to the subs rms rating. about 600 total. could be a lil more to compensate for impedance rise, voltage drop and what ever else can happen in a car.
Thanks when reading the manual off the internet kicker recommends if you are gonna use 450- 600 watts with their sub you use their .66 enclosure i contacted them about amp power but have heard nothing yet.... so thats why i looked on here .....
the reason behind the smaller enclosure is that the sub will be less efficient and will be able to handle more power. in a larger enclosure the efficiency goes up and the power handling goes down. as long as you set the gain properly you should be fine with useing that powerful of an amp. just dont push. it gets tempting to want to crank the gain for more power. i friend of mine learned the hard way on how not to re adjust your gains for more vol output. he had a sub seize up on him and it took out his amp due to the dead short/low imp it created after. so just be carful is all. good luck to you.
