ive been reading this forum and it looks like there is some good information being giving out so i thought i'd ask ya'lls opinion before i make my final decision. i just purchased the t1000bd by fosgate and eventually it blew one of my alpine 12 type r so i want to upgrade my subs. i liked the way my alpines performed but i kinda wanted a change and came up on a pair of kicker 12 l7's, ive heard that these arent good for sound quality at all (will anyone shed some light on this), i usually listen to rap and r and b, would these subs perform well with these types of music? i love deep bass, and i heard the l7's can get pretty deep. if not, i was going to stay with alpine and try the type x 12's. this set-up is in a camaro, so anyone that deals with hatch-backs knows what im talking about. any info will be appreciated.
I've heard both the Type X's and the L7's (12's and 15s). The Type X's are smooth...real smooth. The lows are amazing as well...sound quality is very good. L7's...quicker than the Type X's. Hits the higher bass notes (can cross over up to 100-120 IMO). The lows are good but not as good as the Type X's. The over sound is a little rougher and not as refined. Have you checked out the IDMAX subs yet?? Or the Eclipse Titanium Series?? If your want deep get one 15 inch sub and build the biggest vented box you can fit
