hey, not sure if i should face my kicker box toward the back seat or towards the trunk. if its better facing to the trunk then i will find another place to mount my amp instead of on the back of the box! please see pics:)

normally its best to have the sub and port firing at the rear of the trunk for the best sound.

yes...in most situations the bass will sound the best rear firing...unless you can completely seal off the trunk from the cabin than leave the box rear firing

You can always move the amp to the side of the trunk. Make a board to trim out the side and mount the amp to it. This way wires are behind the board.

This is an eaxample of what I'm taking about. Get some trunk liner carpet (matched to your trunk) to cover the board (available at any Audio store).

    Just a suggestion

ok awesome thanks all, nice trunk ranger! that looks sweet!! I will mount it on the side on a piece of wood then cover it with fabric like you said. Thats a great idea and easier and nicer lol.

grrrrrrrr all i get is two red lights that come on the amp and my speaker makes a big thump, then the 60 amp glass fuse burned, so i unhooked the speaker and the rcas and tried again and same thing melted another fuse, the fuse is about six inches from the battery and everything was ok with another amp i had before. everything is 4 gauge. i smell burning electronics also what the frigin hell?? i just got the amp yesterday and tried it today. MTX 6001 MONO CLASS D AMP, it was used and from ebay but common....

is the gain maxed out? is it grounded right? connection secure? got the negative on the battery off while you connect power cable right?

hmm never looked at the gain, the ground is definitely secure, umm no to the negative of the battery off, i unhooked the positive glass fuse by the battery then hooked up the ground, positive then the remote wire then i go back to the battery and screw the glass fuse back in!! and turn on car and nothing but a big thump, lol this woofer is a monster if i ever get it going, my friend said it sounded like a sledgehammer in the trunk lol.

i might try and bring it back tommorow it wasn't cheap, i had to fight about 8 other bidders to get it. i smelled that burning smell and its very distinctive, always ends up being a bad sign.. i can't see it being something i did wrong? do you still think its the install? i don't have any more glass fuses so will deal with it tommorow, and check the gain level, other than that i thinks its fried..

this amp is a 2 channel mono amp, i'm bridging it to a dual coil 4 ohm sub which is hooked in parallel, positives together and negatives together, this gives 2 ohms no?

The time you spent typing "eh" , could have been used to drink 3 beers and a bottle of jack. Its a 2 ohm speaker when wired as you stated.

( I hate canadians ):D :p

    I checked your amp post's.........

I would say the amp is a crispy critter from the sounds of it............

If you have the speakers unhooked, the rca's unhooked, and only the power and ground and remote wire hooked up, AND it blows fuses like RIGHT NO.....its phucked....sorry hoser buddy.........

Quick idea.......if ya want........... pull the cover off the amp and tell me what looks toasted........and WHERE.......take a pic of it and post it on here if ya want....its a long shot, but i have a gut feeling here......

Ranger.........I am thinking input diode... Whaddya think?

lol ok let me go get in back in a few, i have other pics of my last amp that melted the ground connector on the amp and blew a transistor after working great for about a year. I'll put the bazooka pics now and the mtx amp after, maybe it is my butcher job of installing.
