Hi all.......noobie here looking for help. I installed a new JVC head unit this morning and it went great and now I'm trying to install the amp.
I haven't installed an amp in over 15 years so I'm struggling big time!

I am trying to install a Kenwood KSC-SW10 amp and the instructions are very confusing. The wiring diagram is showing the yellow Battery wire running into the fuse box. I always thought an amp had to be wired directly to the Positive Battery terminal. The Yellow wire has a male connector of some type already attached to it,like it should plug into a female connector of some type.

I also can't find a hole in the firewall anyplace to run the wire so do I just drill my own or what? The Yellow wire has a fuse link attached to it so it won't go through any hole anyway.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

yes drill your own hole for the battery wire and use a gromet and maybe even so electrical tape. the yellow seems to be a remote wire which means it needs to be hooked up to a switched 12V source so it turns on when u turn the key.

Well, now I'm wondering about something else. I was reading some reviews on Crutchfields site about installing the previous model powered sub(KSC-W1)and they were saying the head unit supplied the power. So is that why the blue/white wire on my new JVC head unit (KD-G830) has 2 connectors on it? I connected one of them to the wiring harness (male)and taped the other one (female)off. Maybe the yellow wire from the powered sub connects to the blue/white female connector?

i dont think the headunit could power somethin like that, but i dont really have any experience with powered subs.

Just a follow up in case anyone is thinking of adding one of these powered subs to your system. The Yellow wire does indeed connect to the Blue/White female connector. That's how this amp is powered-not by connecting to the battery like a "normal" amp would do.Who would have thunk it?
