    hi all.

i have room for up to two 1.5/1.7 cuft boxes

    the subs are kenwoods kfc-w3011
400w rms 1200w max, specs says box size, 1.2 sealed or 1.5 ported with 3x7" port.

does this sound about right? also ive always gone sealed for puncher bass but does any one know if kenwood subs are best suited to ported or sealed. listen to dubstep, manily kiss fm (radio) so chart type musicand some times a bit of new style drum and bass

as for the amp i have one running a 12" mutant after the magnet on my 15" xxxmutant slipped becasue i dropped the dam box!
    or i have a splx 1000,

as far as i can gather is 2x500 watts but being splx, thats likley max watts
the other amp i have lying about is this

    http://www.prohifi.cz/zesilovace-do-auta/t1-audio-ls-500-2

says 200w rms 600w max, so am i going to get any thing decent from this running one. thinking not but thought id ask if so id buy a second one

so any amp or amps i can run these properly. being a bmw it has a big battery, so no power issues,

Sealed boxes are more accurate, however, ported boxes play louder and they are more efficient. Also ported boxes will play a little lower. For a ported box and two woofers, I would do one box with an internal volume of 3.25 to 3.5 cu. ft. We would then need two 4-inch round ports 12-inches long.

Or you could do a slot port. A box 32-inches wide, 14-inches tall and 16-inches deep. The port would need to be 12.5-inches tall, 2-inches wide by 12-inches long.

So using the top plan of one box. Is this the best way, As i was led to belive running them in there own air was best. Also id have to check to see if a double box would be able to fit as i have a e36 coupe. Meaning the boot opening is smaller the the width of the boot.

Also with the top one running two 4x12" ports were would i be for tuning levels?

Suppose also good to know i like deep punchy bass. At mid level. But then hard hits downow and if the song require it.
If i made two seprate boxes so i could then join and become one inner air volume would this work. Basically left box has no right side and viser versa.?
finally is port postion important. Im thinking both in the middle.if one box. Or in the inner corners if two spreate boxes.

For accurate bass, you want a sealed box. On Kenwoods website it lists a range of 0.8cu ft (tight bass) to 1.75 (deep bass) and 1.25 as the recommended size. From what you are describing, go with the sealed box. It will be smaller than the ported box. And both woofers should share the same box but they dont have to. You can have seperate boxes.

Ported won't work for you, the bass is a little loose and as you stated, it may not fit in the car.

    Stay sealed

Thanks. I was considering making my own Boxes. But may just buy prefab ones which are 1.25cuft any how. But then thought about using fibre matting inside. Then should i use wadding or a bare box?

Most prefab boxes are of a really poor quality. But remember you get what you pay for. ProBox for example is a little pricey, but worth every penny.

Many shops can build a really good box and it will be a better quality box then those prefabs

well i was thinking of buying them bracing them and the fireglassing the inside. i was thinking of building my own, which i may still do. but for what i need thinking prefab ones would be ok, i dont need to do db drags etc, dont care about hitting high 130/140db numbers and there 18mm(3/4") mdf any how.

    460L so 16.24cuft.
    Total box volume 4.16cuft
so remaining volume 12.08cuft. If this does not include the spare wheel well with a tyre in the space. 1cuft empty. Could be 0.3 full? Large alloy.

But can take proper messurents in the morning. Really like to know the db and mhz. Or is that imposible from known volume and wrms?
