I just joined this site and just wanted to say Hello!!! I have "got back into" car audio after a hiatus. I am a member of CACO,DIYMA, DIY Audio, and a few other sites. I started "getting into" car audio in the early 80's (1982 to be exact) when I bought my first head unit and speakers. A Kraco under dash 8 track and externally door mounted Sparkomatic 4" speakers (the ones mounted in a little plastic housing. I then bought a power booster and FM booster (a signal booster that also boosted the noise in the signal!!) After hearing one of my friend's stereo system in his El Camino, I ordered an Alphasonik amp (A-240B), a cassete head unit, and a set of 6X9's that I mounted in boxes. I was hooked. I ended up attending and graduating from electronics school in 1986-1988. We learned about all sorts of things and we even learned about tubes but surface mount technology was pretty new so we didn't touch on it much. I worked for a few places over the years but I always had a passion for car audio and did installation work in the small town I grew up in from about 1983 to about 1995 off and on. It still amazes me how technology has changed over the years. Any way I just wanted to say Hello!!!
Welcome aboard. Things have came a long way since Kraco I had 1965 Mustang in high school('83-85') and it had a Midland AM/FM cassette HU with 4 channels. I thought I was the shiatz
