I have retuned my sub box down to 34hz.I have 3 10" rf old school subs(rfp-1210) that are dual4's rated at 400 watts rms each. The box is 3.08 cuft after port and sub disp. and they are in a shared chamber.RF says 1 cuft per sub ported and tuned to 35hz.They are wired to present a 2.66 ohm load, but with a dmm they are reading 2.37 ohms.My amp puts out 1000 watts rms at 2 ohms(alpine m-1000).I'm slightly underpowering them.My voltage doesn't drop below 13 volts at the amp.I have a few questions. 1:Will I notice a difference with 500 watts more(stepping up to 1500 at 2 ohms)? 2:Should I increase my enclosure size? 3:Should I fiberglass the inside of the box? 4:Should I divide each sub in a new enclosure? I think that 3 10" subs should hit harder than what they do.I also realize that my settings are important but the gain is up 1/4 of the way and no bass boost at all.My h/u has 5 volt preouts and the amp says .4-4 volt.So I'm up over the recommended already, but it doesn't distort unless I go up too far on the h/u.What do you guys think?
the larger the enclosure the lower the power handling goes, by making it more efficient. dont forget you have some impedance rise happening too. that will lower power output as well. i think adding the extra power can help compensate for the rise. just find out what the rise is and go from there.
your going to need a DMM and a clamp meter. then google it cause i forget how. i found out last year my 8's were only seeing a 2.1 ohm load after rise. they were wired to 1 ohm. i also found out my power from my amp too. 530 at 2 ohms. not bad considering it was rated at 450 at 2.
