I'm a new guy. (obviously) I know some about car audio, but pretty much just the basics. I'm only 19, and started messing around with stuff at about 15. In high school i started installing for my friends... just the basics (any combo of deck amps doorspeakers and subs), but by my senior year i was doin stuff for people from all around, and started getting a little creative. I have added plexi glass to some boxes, (thought it was hard to keep clear) done a little fiberglass, and have built alot out of mdf. I am really interested in all of the tuning stuff involved with boxes.
sadly i don't have many pics of my work, and most of it is in other peoples vehicles, i think i have some pics of some pioneer shallow mount 12's i had behind the seat of my 05 colorado... and i wouldn't say i really design boxes as i dont really know much about all of the tuning and stuff... those being the things i want to learn about. All I have done when building boxes is looked at the recommended enclosure volume, and built a box that would fit where i needed it to and provide the correct volume. I have only built 2 ported boxes, 1 for 2 solo baric l7 15's and 1 for some other old subs a guy had one time.
o yea... i use a pencil and paper for designing the boxes... lol... sounds like i been doin it all wrong judging by some of the stuff i've seen on here... but like i said, here to learn about that part ccullen... did u build that box thats in ur expedition? i read somewhere u said u've only built 2 boxes, and if thats ur second than all i can say is wow. my second box looked like junk compared to that one.
Yeah, that was my 2nd box that I built but electro (another member here) designed the box for me using bassbox. actually pencil and paper is the way to go with designing. Ranger, G3 and Aznboi do it that way too. I just don't have the patience to do it that way.lol
We have some real good box designers here that use paper and pencil. Ranger who has been an installer for years and years, Aznboi does some awesome designs but is real busy right now. G3 also designs (i think azn taught him how). you want to learn more then these are the guys that know their stuff. Electro, also designs but uses a bassbox 6 pro for his designs. My 2nd box he did and it slams!
ic... well thanks for the welcome, ill keep lookin around, and hopefully learn about all of the details in building a box... im sure that around christmas i will have plenty of questions. that is a busy time of the year cus theres usually a bunch of kids from my hometown gettin their parents to get me to do stuff for them
