My friend and I were installing the 860mp and he was in a hurry so he did a sloppy job connecting the wires to each other. After a few days of driving the HU would skip on bascially every bump and turn off on big ones. It would also turn off whenever I accelerated quickly. I decided to take matters into my own hands and rewire the HU. I took apart all the tape and made sure the wires were touching each other nicely before retaping them. It has been a week and the Hu is beginnign to show the same symptoms. Its not so bad now but in a day or two it will get to the point where it turns off and doesnt come back on. Any ideas on whats going on? Some of the wires have these metal braces on the tips that were from a previous installation. I was thinking that maybe they were causing interference.
any exposed wire or "metal" attached directly to the wire needs to be Covered in Tape or Heat Shrink Tubing...
Restrip the wires and either use butt connectors to connect them or solder and heat shrink/liquid tape them. Twisting and taping is not a very good thing to do in a moving, vibrating vehicle.
I had similar happenings with my Aiwa cd player and using 2 ohm speakers instead of the 4 ohm that was recommended. Constant skipping.
