I had a JL Audio 500/1 running a 12w3v3 in the bed of my truck.. Well the amp was inside, and the sub was in the back with a camper top. I blew my sub, IDK if it got wet or what, but my amp stopped working. It kind of smells like cooked inside but I am not for sure. I took it a[part and couldnt find any fuses or anythign. Any ideas?
does the protect light come on?? The slash series amps have internal circuit breakers so you will not find any fuses. Disconnect the sub and see if the amp turns on....
Its actually been o ut of my vehicle for quite some time... I just came home from the Marines for a long weekend, and my dad pulled it back out... So I am going to call a buddy of mine up and hook it up into his system. Is it possibe for an amp to fry like that?
so there might not be ne hope eh? this sucks I really hope this amp isn;t fried... I think my sub may have gotten wet, IDK its been so long ago. All I know is the sub blew and I took the whole system out of my truck... If its fried there is no way to get it fixed? or would I be better off to buy a new amp...
I don't think that your amp is really fried...hook it up and see if it turns on...then come back to us...right now we can't really be for sure about anything
alright hopefully some friends are comingb\ bye later to drink some beer with me and grill soem steaks, I am gettign ready togo to iraq in a few months...
hey Marine, i suggest you take the amp to a reputable shop and have them bench test it......I always did it for folks for free. Even if it is a small charge, then you will know the status of the amp. by the way.....Thanks for serving. i appreciate it! Will have a beer myself for ya! Good luck in Iraq. Tell Al quida to suck a cock for me!!!!
you know on a side note.. all the shops in this area are gay about that. I asked them to bench test my amp and all of them said well for 20 dollars we can see if it turns on but thats about it.
i have a thought. if not a shop.then maybe a pawn shop. they have to test amps all the time if they deal in used car audio.
Or just hook it up strait to your battery...it is just to test to see if it turns on...nothing difficult
