I have a few questions regarding an install I am going to do on my car. I have a 2005 lincoln LS with the factory Nav system. I'm going to put an Alpine ida-x305 in it. My questions are:

Is there a way to still use the factory amps in the car? (there is 2, one for the door speakers, and another amp for the factory 6x9 subs in the rear deck). What adaptors/converters do i need so i can do this? I cant seem to find any. Will that HU have more power than those factory amps anyway? If so ill just run new speaker wires.

A friend of mine gave me an xtant 3300x amp. (i was going to get all new speakers for the inside of the car, but as of right now i can only get the HU) Im going to run 2 10" subs with that amp, but since that is a multi channel amp, will i blow the factory speakers to smitherines if i hook then up to the xtant amp as well? If so ill wait till i can replace the inside speakers. I have 2 sets of subs at the moment, 2 10" PPI subs that are about 10 years old, but they still sound good, or a newer pair of JL 10", not sure what model they are. which ever set sounds better is what ill use.

Is that amp going to suck enough power to warrant doing a "big 3" upgrade? My battery is in my trunk, and i have a bunch of 0/2 cable that i can use, so i may just do it anyway.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance :)

i would do the big 3 anyways. it cant hurt. as far as the adaptors...i would go to crutchfield.com and check there. see what they recommend then look for it elsewhere to see if you can get it cheaper.

i dont think the xtant amp will blow your front speakers to shreds as long as you set the gains and crossovers accordingly.

is the xtant a 3ch amp?

use the older subs for now. that way you wont be spending money you dont have too just yet.

how thick is the cable going to the batt from the engine?

crutchfield doesnt have anything to adapt the factory amps. And yes that xtant is a 3 channel. I have both sets of subs now, the only thing im buying is the HU and the steering wheel control adaptor, i have everything else. Id have to say the factory cable from alt to battery looks like a 4 or 6 gauge, could be an 8, nothing smaller than that tho.

ok then you may want to run new speaker wires if you cant find any adapters.

do you know the impedance of the door speakers?

I just interrupt here for a bit. Don't even think about using the factory amp cuz you can't. You'll have to use the xtant amp which is a good thing. Just find out the wiring diagram for the car which can be found on the12volt.com and just tap your factory speaker wires to go to your xtant amp. Like pedro said, you'll be okay as long as your gains and crossovers are set correctly for the speakers.

You should be able to intergrate into the factory amp, the plug, Metra #70-5521 should be the correct plug.

The aftermarket amp will always outperform the factory amp. It would be worth the time to work around your factory amps.
