Anyone ever try these speakers? I installed a pair upfront and just wondering if the crossover that it comes with is really necessary. My amp has a crossover, so why do I need one for the speakers?

Also, do you like the speakers?

ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. Do not install and hook up those speakers without the crossover. The crossover is needed to seperate the sound for the woofer and the tweeter in the speakers. All speakers have them. But some manufactures choose to use an external crossover. With out the crossover, frequencies meant for the woofer would also go to the tweeter, destroying the tweeter almost immediately.

I did not like last years models, but this years models seem to be performing well.

So does that mean your opinion of Infinity is based on last year? Are this years models better?

Bottom line.......ALL SPEAKERS SUCK! some just more than others!

meaning, none achieve musical perfection equal to a live acoustic performance. PERIOD!

So does the new infinity stuff suck less than they did?

I base my opinion on how many failures we have. And last year, Infinity's failed 3 times more than any speaker we sold. I refused to sell them because I hate working on cars a second time because of a second rate product. Of all the Infinity's we put in at our shop, about 25% had to be replaced under warranty.

So far this year we have had only one problem. They have improved.

Hows the sound on them? Do you deal with kenwood amps?

I am not a big fan of metal dome tweeters. At higher volumes they don't seem to be as crystal clear as silk domes or composite domes. Infinity's entry level (Referance) has a composite dome that sounds really good, but I've never warmed up to the Kappas. I play my Ted Nugent REALLY LOUD.

For me there are some exceptions, MB Quart, for example, uses a metal dome that is really smooth.

Love Kenwood amps, but for loud (which is what my customers want ) We use Planet Audio. Not as clean as Kenwood but they get the job done.

I found my french fries. They're stale by now. #*^**$#@

They sound good. Planet is a little off on their recommended box size. If you go larger they will really pound.

The "Big Bangs" are not efficient, so unless you plan on using alot of power I would not choose them.

(a couple of years ago someone showed me how to post pictures, and now I can't stop) I need help
