ok i was at a show on saturday and i had a friend clamp my nine.5 and lets just say i got a lilttle surprised as to my actual power output to my subs.

my impedance is actually 2 ohms playing music and tones and the amp is putting out 530 watts at 2Ω's.

not bad but not the .8 ohms i thought it was at. if thats what 500 watts can do then dang!,...... it's loud enough for me then.

Impedance is a difficult thing to understand. A coil (including a speaker voice coil) has a constant resistance to DC, but to AC, the resistance changes with frequency.

Impedance is usually calculated at 1000Hz, which doesnt tell us whats happening at other frequencies. At 100Hz the resistance drops significantly. At higher frequencies the resistance increases alot.

Another interesting thing happens (not related) In a coil, voltage leads current. Yes thats right, current lags behind voltage by 90-degrees.
