OK lets try this. Lets try a box that is 42-inches wide, 14-inches tall and 18-inches deep. Now the port will be 12.5 inches tall and 3-inches wide. The port will need to be around 18-inches long.

you can always use 1inch mdf to ensure a stronger box.

were will the port go? does it only need one or one for every sub?

My recommendation is for a single box, no divider and one port. Please read the Box Building Thread for a couple of pointers.

Also, because that speaker is so big and heavy, you might wanna consider 1-inch MDF for the baffle.

    or double 3/4

go to reaudio.com and use the box calculator to get an idea of what it will look like... you can input all the dimensions on there.

will it affect the sound if i glue another piece of 3/4 mdf to the front of the box and cut out the port?because front piece starts were the port ends so if i only add to the front piece the port will be shorter than the front so i want to add it to the port too so it could be all even

when i made my ported box for my w7, i did a double stack of 3/4 mdf and it looked funny but i bought some of those pieces of wood that are for like moldings and stuff to put around that piece of double stack mdf to give it sort of a flared look

if you go to the JL site and look at the spec sheet for the w7, it tells you the cut out diameter so you just make your circle exactly that and you should be good...as far as where to put the cutouts on the box face, i dont have any suggestions for that lol, maybe someone else could chime in about that because i've only made single sub boxes so far and i just kind of put it anywhere i want haha
