I got the Clarion 5 1/4 components in today. As mentioned in another thread, the tweeters were too loud. I put a 8 ohm non inductive 20 watt resistor in series before the capacitor on each one. That made things much better. I've never had components before-all the front speakers in the past were aimed at my lower body. That's why I've always preferred rear deck speakers. Now I see what you guys mean about a preference for front over the rear. Having tweets aimed at your ears makes a huge difference. However, they sound totally different from the rear factory 6X8s. Not much mid bass, but more highs. The HP filter on the amp is set about 80Hz. Having a set of Harrison Labs 70Hz HP F-mods laying around, they were installed for a sharper roll off below 70Hz. I still need the rears for mid bass, but prefer about 60% front and 40% rear.
