I've already ripped my Alpine Type-S 12" sub, and blew an In-Phase XT12 all within 6 months.. So yeh I need a powerful sub! It's 1200w and runs a single amp at 4ohm. Am I correct? So I need a single sub with a max rms of 1200w.. 1000w to be safe, right? Or am I totally wrong? Advice me! Here are the amps specs: http://www.docs.sony.com/release/XM2002GTW.pdf I was thinking of this sub OR Thoughts? Thanks alot!
I don't think that amp over powered those subs. RMS of the amp is 500 watts, rms of the In-phase is 700 watts. You may have clipped them.
Would you possibly be able to list me all the possible subs i could use? I.e RMS watt and ohms? So I should be looking for either a: 200w RMS dual 4ohm Sub OR 250w RMS dual 2ohm Sub OR 500w RMS single 4ohm Sub.. Is this right? Apparently this would work well with the specs of my amp? http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-alpine-swr-1222d_p-21052.htm
That sub will work well with the amp. Wire it in series to get a 4 ohm load. Don't expect this set-up to push the windows out of your car though. If you want more power get a new amp instead of sending the sub a clipped signal. Keep the bass-boost off, the head units bass down and set your gain correctly. What type of hu do you have?
Thanks for your reply. I have this http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-sony-cdx-gt540ui_p-26088.htm running my 4 speakers and 2 tweeters. I can adjust Lows, Mids and Highs and Sub settings from the HU.
Im using this HU http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-sony-cdx-gt540ui_p-26088.htm Allows me to change the Low, Mids, Highs and Sub settings.
I have a Sony CDX-GT540UI that allows me to control the Lows, Mids, Highs and Sub settings. Do you think the In-Phase XT12 was a good recommendation for the amp i have? I may buy another one but the pink version for £38 brand new and turn the gain down?
Ok, that hu has 2 volt pre-outs. Yes, that amp should not have over powered that sub. If you match the gain to the 2 volt signal and keep the bass-boost off you will have no problems.
