the sub im looking at the alpine 10in type r. and the hz say 26-500hz. now i see alot of you guys tune other woofers to about 32 to 34hz, why is that and will that hz fit this woofer? it will be in a 1.3 ported box at least thats what the info says, isnt that kinda small? will a larger one work better or not. any info would help. thanx
the hz range is what the woofer can play but u should not go higher than 90hz on the x-over etc...also the hz you want to tune the box depends on the type of music you like, if u want more sq, more spl etc...
well it will be a single 10in woofer, i dont think i can get to much deep bass so i think ill go for sq. also i like to listen to rap even though its a single 10 it should still sound ok right?
1.3 cu ft tuned to 33 hz looks like a smooth graph..nothing really peaky and a F3 of about 27Hz it'll sound fine with rap. How much room can you give up for a box??
well i have a punch 800. as far as space i have a magnum rt, with plenty of space its just how much space do i want to give up with 2 kids and there accesories, not to mention the wife to.
well, 1.3 is about all the space id like to give up. my box will be about 24 wide 14 high and only about 8 deep, i think im gonna have to work on the dept part maybe to 10. im not even sure if thats close to 1.3cf
displacement area? is that like the volume of the sub when its in the box? and what would 20in of port be like?
As in port displacement...20 sq inches of port would be a 10 inch tall by 2 inch wide port assuming the box is 13.5 inchs tall externally
