In the near future i will be replacing my stock stereo. I am using an LOC now for my sub. I put in new 6x9s today. Can i split the signal from the single rca cable with out using a crossover? I know my 6x9s will get bass but its temp until my head unit is installed. The new hu has 3,4 volt outputs including subwoofer out.

As Viking said, yes you can, but have you considered an easier way? Look at your bass amp. Many have preouts, some even with a built-in crossover. If yours does, just connect a short RCA cable from there to the amp for your 6x9's. No messy Y-cables, no running another long cable to the back and possibly superior sound (if the crossover is there).

Of course, if you do replace the head unit, then you may need to run another cable.
