I have a very weird problem with my HU that I'm pretty sure can't be fixed, but I was looking for another opinion. A couple nights ago I (stupidly) left the lights on in my car and (of course) it killed my battery. I called a friend of mine who showed up with a portable battery booster. I hooked it up to the battery, flipped the switch to turn on the current, and my buddy started the car no problem. Since then, the buttons on my HU now perform different functions than they did before. For example, the Clock button now turns loudness on/off, and the eject button functions like the Up botton to change the fad f/r. Some of the buttons have no function at all that I've been able to determine. It still puts out audio when I plug my ipod into it, and the volume and on/off still work like they're supposed to, but I can't do much else with it. Any idea if this is fixable? I'm going to try cutting all power to it to see if that'll fix it, but I'm not really holding out much hope. I can't update the firmware on it because there's no input of any kind to do that. It's just a cheap Pioneer HU. Any other suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.
That is so odd, I've never heard of anything like that before. Try this, unplug the radio power plug, leave it unplugged for a couple minutes and plug it back in. Lets see if everything resets.
Pulled the hu out of the dash and unplugged it from the car. Had no effect. The worst part? It still outputs audio from the aux jack, but I accidentally set the balance to the right trying to figure out what all the buttons do, and balance left is one of the functions that it just won't do anymore. Pulling the power had no effect on that either. Fried HU.
wow! that is THE most strange head unit things ive ever hear happen. so the AUX in is now a headphone jack? lol
Lol exactly, and the cd player now plays blu rays by displaying the movie with the LEDs. It's a little pixelated, but it gets the job done.
This happened to an old old sony unit i had and also an old T.V i had!. The volume button would change channels and the channel buttons would turn the tv off. I couldn't figure it out so off the the garbage they went!
