Recently, I installed a keyless in a Pontiac G6. The problem was with the factory security. The info I had on the car said the only way to shut it off was with the factory remotes. Being the stubborn hard headed ass that I am, and three hours later I found a way to shut it down when the unlock button was pressed on the keyless. At the body control computer I found a green wire (connector J1) that will shut off the factory alarm when it sees ground through a 680-ohm resister. So hitting the lock button, locks the doors and sets the factory alarm, hitting unlock disarms the security system and unlocks the doors. NO Problem Right Wrong, today I tryed to do a keyless in a Chev HHR. The problem is that in my notes it only says green wire 680 (neg pulse) J1. The HHR and the G6 use the exact same body control Computers. But there is no green wire in that plug that will shut of the alarm. So either the HHR uses a different color wire (super unlikely) or there is no wire in that location. (I failed to put exact pin location in my notes). If I have time and more motivation I can test every pin again (about 100 pins) but I will avoid that. GM mechanics (around here) have less IQ that a chimpanzee, much less. They would be of no help. (hope I did not insult any chimpanzee's with that comparison) Are there any installers here? Do any of you know the location of the external disarm input at the body control computer? I'm afraid that we are going to see more of these cars
it's a bummer that you weren't able to remember that pin location, but I guess that you had no Idea that those losers were going to switch color codes on the same units, huh? oh, and chimpanzees have a wonderful talent for learning, you are being to nice on the gm boys.
It would be nice if there were a few installers here. Some one might have had this solution. Came up with a fix yesterday. Its just going to cost the customer $50 more for the keyless. When I install a remote start on a car I use a data interface to disable the security during remote starting. Well, why can't I use the same interface with the keyless. It works great. I love it when I kick a problem in the a#*! I'm getting way to old for this
