Anybody know any good quality amps that have high level inputs? I need something that can push a 12 inch L7 or 2 12 inch Boston pros. Or is there a adapter that I can use to run rca cables to my factory head unit. I have a RF power 550s, an Mtx 942 or a Crossfire cfa 1000d none of which have high level inputs. I really dont want to buy a new amp but I need something that will work with the factory head unit since there are no dash kits available. Any help will be VERY appreciated.

Trunk Loc makes a good line level converter

I highly recomend this as opposed to a specific amp that has Hi level inputs

Have used the PL 2 for years, always work, never had any issues with them, and gave the best sound quality of any of them

Thanks Viking, just wondering if you get much signal voltage to the amps or do you need a line driver.

line level converters are cheap, and easy to install, and are very reliable. in fact, I don't think I've ever seen one fail. easy piggyback installation, and converts your line in from your fac. HU from (20-40 watts)to 3 0r 4 volts (more amp friendly.)
    have fun!

No line driver/preamp required, I almost always set the gains on the PL2 to around 3/4 of the way and turned the gain down on the amp as far as i could. Of course each install is different so this may not apply to you!

Thanks Viking, I think that solves my problems. I really didnt want to buy a new amp when I have these just sitting here gathering dust. I just have one question, My factory hu only has 4 outputs (2 front 2 rear) so that will take care of my mains but where do I connect the sub amp? I guess I could run a 2 channel amp at 2 ohm stereo and run my front and rear off that amp and use the other 2 outputs for the sub amp. Do you think this will work?

yes that will work. Another option is to run the subs off the same PL2 as the front speakers if you want to keep the soundstage upfront. Or off the rears if you like your rear speakers louder. But regardless, you will need 2 convertors to do this.

Ill give it a try. Ill run the Fosgate power at 2 ohm pushing a componet set of crystal sound up front and some 6x8 in the rear deck. Then the Crossfire cfa 1000d at 1 ohm pushing a 12 inch L7. Thanks for all the help and ideas, ill let you know how it all works out. Thanks again.

Its a 2001 Mercury sable LS Premium. The hu is all in one with the electronic climate controls. cmon guys quit laughing at my car, it has the 24 valve engine, all leather, sunroof and power everything. But the best thing is it only has 10027 miles on it. It was owned by some old lady that didnt drive anywhere. At 9100$ I could not pass up the deal. Of course the only problem is the stereo. But I think with the help of Viking and others ive got it all worked out. Ill let you all know how it works out.
