Okay so, i purchased the Hifonics BXI 1610D. i also purchased the alpine 12" type X series subwoofer and these together bang really hard. but i was wondering if hooking up 2 alpine type X's @1ohm would be a good idea or not? i would appreciate everybody's opinion. thank you Amp link with specs_ http://www.woofersetc.com/p7501/BXI-1610D--Hifonics-1600W-1-Channel-Mono-Block-Amplifier.htm Sub link with specs- http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/swx-1243d/Specs
Sure, those subs can be wired to 1ohm since they're dual 4ohm voicecoils. They'll handle the 1600 watts RMS from the amp fine, too. The enclosure you use is more important to how it sounds than the sub/amp combo though.
A little more info would be great, such as: what kind of car do you have, what type of music you listen to, are you looking for tight bass or boomy bass, and how much room you have for a box (i.e., need to preserve trunk space, etc.). General trunk measurements would be great info to have, too. I'm by no means an expert or even close on enclosures, but there are guys here who know their stuff.
good questions ericj! a couple of those 12 inchers in the right box will tear your face off! By the way antraneek...thanks for the links to your equipment.....wish more folks would do that.....
