Hi all, I bought an Alpine s series sub but there is some confusion as to how many watts it can handle. I know that previous s series subs were 300W RMS but the box says 500W RMS. I looked up SWS-12D4 and found this press release... "Alpine Introduces 12 New Subwoofers and Unified Sub Box Program" (Jan. 10, 2012) ... SWS-12D4 Dual 4-ohm 12-inch Subwoofer CEA-2031 Speaker Specifications: 500W RMS, 1000 Peak Power Handling Frequency response: 26 hertz – 200 hertz Mounting Depth: 5 7/8-inches Available: March MAP: $149.95 Can anyone settle this once and for all? If so, can you recommend a good entry level amp? When I thought it was a 500W sub, I was looking at the Alpine MRP-M500.
the amp you have mentioned in the end is a perfect amp for that subwoofer (when wired to 2ohm) you just need any good amp that will do 500watts RMS at 2 ohm
