i have a 10" kicker l5 and a 500 watt amp, i built a box too where i can remove the top and move the port around. i have done this twice with no luck , first my box is 1.36 cf my first port was 12"x1"x15" i was told this is way to small so i changed it to the factory recomendations of 12"x2.25"x20" . and i guess my problem is i get no low bass ,all high and mid but no low? i don't know what else to try.
those solobarics love big boxes. try like a 2.5ft^3 box tuned to about 33-35 if you want the lows maybe
