I just installed a Kenwood KDC-MP5032 in my trailblazer and it works fine. However I just found an old subwoofer in my house (it is a fairly old 10' Sony Xplode). I just tested it on my surround sound system in my house and it seems to work just fine. I have a few questions about installing this in my car. Is it possible to install this without purchasing an amp? I dont really need a lot of bass. The only problem i see installing it is the wiring. The subwoofer has the type of outputs that you use when installing a surround system. e.g. similar to this [IMG]

And the output on the faceplate is an RCA output for the subwoofer. Would I need some sort of converter to install the sub? Any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if this is all very basic. I searched for a little while and couldnt find anything. Thanks.

you will need an amp to run the sub in your truck. your deck does not have enough power to do it.

in the right enclosure even 100 watts will do for most people.

all it takes is a few members to post.

you can bridge the rear channels on some pioneer models i believe but that would only get you roughly 30-40rms.

you could find an amp that makes 100-200rms@ 4ohms for dirt cheap.
