I tried posting in the nav section on this website , so mods sorry about a double posting.

Here's my problem. I'm looking to upgrade the factory navigation on my Ford 07 Expedition. The two head units I'm considering are a Pioneer avicx990bt or an Alpine iwa900bt. Both of these I'm guessing have just come out. I'm hoping that the members here can shed some light on these products or any others that can be recommended. Some features that are important to me are the nav utility, sat radio, ipod and bluetooth.

Getting map updates on a dvd from ford/navteq has been expensive at $225 a dvd, I could of bought a new hu:eek: I'm looking for a better solution if it exists. Does anyone know or can explain how do I go about updating the maps on these devices? Is it a dvd or can I get an sd card and gather the information?

Just so you all know, I'm running after market gear speakers, amp and sub.

    Would appreciate any suggestions.

    Cheers!

Actually I like both Pioneer and Alpine. I have an Alpine and I like it. I have also owned a Pioneer and again I liked it. (no Nav, bluetooth yes, ipod yes)

The only problem I've run into with the Pioneer nav units is the boot time. It does take a minute for the unit to boot up. I don't know if Pioneer has fixed the boot time problem. But again both units are reliable HUs.

    $225 for an update!! Jesus.......

I like my portable Garmin. $100 for lifetime yearly updates, but then again, I'm a cheapskate ;D
