Hey guys. I am currently in the process of turning my 2001 F-150 Supercrew into a rolling beatbox / show truck. I am doing all of the mechanical and Audio work myself and i would love to do the Fiberglassing and Paint. As far as the Fiberglassing goes i am a complete dummie i dont really know much about it but i learn fast so if anyone could direct me to some resources that would help alot. Does anyone know of any good books about Fiberglassing? preferably one that has to do with car audio. Thanks! -Truxx
Have dona ALOT of fibreglass work myself, and i believe ranger has too, just let us know if ya need any pointers/help.....
I also do a ton of composite fabrication. Sailplanes though. I am very familiar with different cloths and resins and methods. I also sell carbonfiber of many different weights/weaves. A carbon box would be far superior to a glass one but would not be cheap. You could save a few bucks if you got the carbon from me though.
Hey joe, got some carbon fibre do ya????? I have never priced it. i was thinking of getting some for the main spars for my R/C aiplanes........Is it very expensive or cheap enough for a small project such as described
When I said sailplanes I meant r/c sailplanes. I happen to be in a very small group of people that have built sailplanes that have passed the 250MPH mark. Have you ever heard of Dynamic Soaring? http://www.sloperacing.com/results/ds-speeds.htm Look towards the top of the list. The 80" Dynamic is my own design amongst others.
The average price for carbon cloth is about 60bucks a yard. I sell it for about 35 a yard for ten yards. I sell it much cheaper for 50 and 100+ yards.
I'm an rc enthusiast too, I love 2 fly, But I have never heard of 250mph sailplanes....(sounds evil-I like it!) I'm In a group that flies experimental (owner designed) planes, and we call ourselves the ditch diggers. I need to know more about screaming sailplanes.. that's just awesome

i do alot glassing . and i do mean alot. go through 55 gallons every couple of months or so. and let me tell you patience and the right materials make it so much easier. you can get alot of stuff from www.selectproducts.com but they are expensive. i just found a new resin this month. im tring to find out what the name or grade of it is. i have a friend that owns a the largest granite looking bathtub, showers counters(sc) in the us. he told me to check out his resin. They are actually built out of fiberglass resin and some other stuff . the resin is almost clear and very thick. like syrup. it goes alot further. and is very strong. works great with woven matt and filler.it sands really nice as well. Im sure some one has told you about spray on filler for finishing . its basically bondo you can shoot with a gravity fed paint gun and saves you alot of time. here are some pics of the matt i use . this is a titan box i built for a member on www.titantalk.com .
