Figured I might wanna intro myself since I already posted questions in this site...

My name is Bill and I am a mechanic of 20 years and a musician of 30 years...I am an amature wood worker and anything that can be done mechanically or with my hands I will try anytime..ASE certified in med/heavy truck repairs.

I am into car audio for one big reason....I love music....I have a pretty decent home audio system, have dabbled in recording gear and pro audio stuff. I owned my own small PA system for a while and owned a small home studio (16 tracks)...Right now I play in a few musical projects (drummer) and I also help roadie/engineer for a local sound guy on weekend bar gigs...

I strive for anything that increases sound quality.....if quantity follows, that is cool, but not top priority...I have put aftermarket audio in vehicles since I got my learners permit (around 1982)....

Current set up (car audio) is 1995 extended cab Chevy truck...JVC head unit, factory front speakers, factory rear speakers, JL Audio 10w6 mounted in a Q custom enclosure under rear seat...Blaupunkt 4 channel amp with two channels bridged running the sub....

Future plans.....Install Infinity Reference separates in front and 4x6's in the rear (I have had these for over two years sittin in the boxes)...Run those all off the 4 channel amp, then buy a Rockford Punch P4002 to bridge and run the sub...Nothing fancy or really custom...just good sounds to enjoy my 45 minute commute to work....Truck is still fairly clean with 220,000 miles on it.

    Anyway that is me...

    Hiya Willy D

    Welcome.

I am pretty new here as well, but the folks here have a way of making you feel right at home.

I'm CMAT-L1, and try to have nothing to do with the smudgepots that come into the shop. Though, they throw me a curve ball here and there when they give me a Volkswagon to work on, and it has that dang glow plug light.

    Enjoy the ride.

    Thanks all....

Viking....I played drums from 10 years old very very heavy untill I got out of tech school and got a job (and got married at age 20)....Between the ages of 20 and about 30, I basically did not play.....Working midnights and afternoons...About 8 years ago I picked it back up and started jamming again. Wow!!!! I had gained about 40 lbs and I had a hard time just sitting for more than 15 min. to play...I eventually got my chops back and started seriously playing again....I sold my original kit and bought a new one...Then a few years later another kit...and a couple years later another kit....Now I have three...I just, in the last two weeks, have taken a break from all my musical projects as a player...I just need to decompress and rest.....

Last two years of my life have been hell....Got divorced...Was final on 8/19/06 exactly one week before our 19th anniversary....Music was always a soother for me, but playing got to be such a stress...This is where I decided to go into music from a different direction.....yes.......car audio again...it is mine..all mine....Two sons.....14 & 17.....Me and the boys and ex all get along and spend time together...Not a bitter divorce at all.....but I find myself in my house every night alone now....It is an adjustment...wife and I began dating at age 15 and I am 39 now.....

anyway...I am trying to dig back into this audio stuff and hopefully just take a little break from drumming....I will be back at it....

Crap. your about my age!!! this is turnin into an old folks home!!!!

Sorry about the divorce..that must be a hard thing....

Me and several freins always got together years ago and jammed together, we played everything ....and loved it!!!!! Had a REAL 3000 watts of power in our basement, way too many speakers, amps and mics........Lots of fun and lots of great times....

It was always fun when one guy would start a rhytem or beat then all would join in , before ya know it, we had a "groove" happening.......everyone stayed in tune and hit the notes when needed, without any cues at all...its amazing how a close group of buddies can "connect" and make some good music by pullin it out of there a$$!!!!!
