Thought I would say howdy, and thank you folks for a fine site. If I can return the favor as far as auto repair related problems, it would be my pleasure. I am a tech that takes working on cars with the same dedication as many of you show with your systems.

Have a few cars with a some decent upgrades as far as sound goes, but nothing compared to what many of you are up to. My driver is a 98 Ranger with a 501 4 channel Kenwood running 4 Kenwood 6x8's and a Fosgate amp running a Boston Generator 10" in a pre made box. Came looking for a place to get some tips on a custom box, and it looks like I found it. I will be studying up strong, and let you know how it works.

    Thanks again.

I have an extended cab, as does the wife. She likes the racket more, so she has basically the same deal with newer stuff and a 12 back there.

Course, I saw Ranger in your name and checked out your stuff long before I joined, and am most impressed. Very nice.

I always wanted an extended cab Ranger. I have some plans around here some where for 9 10-inch woofers installed in a wall. It was three ported boxes, with three woofers each. Because of the 0.9-ohm load, I would have had to use a Planet Class D. I have run Planet Class D amps down to 1/2 ohm loads with out any problems. (Absolutely NOT recommended according to Planet).

Anyway Christian Universities LOVE money more than anything else, so thats where all my extra cash goes. Oh Well

Howdy Throttle. Always nice to have another one who is mechanically inclined around!!

Now, about that car of mine, its got a roundish square thingy under the hood that get hot and its black and makes this odd poofing noise whenver I put the car ina ditch when i am drunk driving out on the back dirt roads. The local shadetree mechanic says its the muffler bearings going out I think it has to do with the torque limiter in the air filter duct, what do you think the probelm is????

Ya, I know, STFU !!!!!!!!! OK OK!!!!!!!!

Dang roundish square thingies are always trouble. Poofing noise? New one on me. If it whistled, I would say yer shadetree pal was all over it. How I have seen the best handle that type of unknown is snag a case of the beverage of choice, lift the hood, and discuss the problem till it is resolved, or the case is gone.

Then again, as you said, that's probably how the poofing noise got there in the first place.

    Thanks for the welcome!

    Howdy aznboi,

I was impressed with it, but as I said, having a small sealed sub box, I think I can make it better. I went for being able to set it behind the seat, but I think I want more now. But, at the time, I was a relative newbie to the game, and was just impressed with how it made the whole thing sound better.

Ah yes...The ones at the shop are in a pretty nice sized sealed box...around 1.5-1.75...very nice and deep
