I just bought a 2000 civic for the mpg. At $2.80 a gal my truck is killing me. It's a great car except the stereo sucks and there is a lot of road noise. I have a ppi dcx 600.4 amp and wanted to bridge it to run 1 infinity 12" dvc sub. I guess i'm wondering is that a good idea? I havn't bought the sub yet so if anyone has a better Idea let me know.

Hi Ron and welcome to the site

I do not reccomend a DVC sub, UNLESS it is dual 8 ohm voice coil. Otherwise, you will want to use a SVC 4 ohm sub with that amp, the amp is only 2 ohm stable, and whenever you run an amp in mono, it see's half the impedance that is presented to it!!!!! So use either a 4 ohm SVC sub, or a 8 ohm per coil DVC...........

Average of $2.08 here in southern IN.

Also why a dual voice coil sub??? Because more coils means more power handling??? lol???

Not many multichannel amps can handle a 1 ohm load....so like Dike, err I mean Vike said, a 4 ohm single coile or a dual 8 ohm will be your best bet

MB has always made a nice speaker, but the key element in ANY sub install is the box you shove the woofers into....more important that the subs themselves really....A civic should have the room to do whaever you need for a couple of subs/box.....

Do you think 300 watts rms would run a kappa perfect and still sound good?

the rms for a kappa is 350watts

I got a kappa perfect dvc i'm not using and i got two references svc's - both 12inchers. I'll sell them for real cheap, they're just collecting dust.

by the way, the rms for a reference is 300watts.

I've had one 12inch reference sub - then two of em - then two 12inch kappa perfects - the kappas were awesome, but i was also running 750 watts to each one.

    Make up your mind.

hey, i've fried about six sets of infinitys, in my opinion they are junk and not rated properly, i would stay away unless you are on a limited budget.
