Hi guys, this is my first post and couldnt find any info on this and need some expert help :). I used to do install a few years back but dont anymore. Anyway long story short I went to put a Pioneer 3100DVD in my 2004 Jetta with the Monsoon double din. I am using the Metra XSV1 i think is the harness, its the one that puts the 12v switch into the harness.

Everything works fine except one thing. The radio doesnt turn off when you take the key out of the ignition. I thought ok I must have screwed up the constant and switch somehow. Checked those and and they were wired correctly. Then I discovered, the radio does turn off when you turn off the ignition...and the passenger door is opened. So basically I have to take the key out then open and close the passenger door and it turns off. Could this be a faulty harness? I just have the parking brake wire on the radio grounded. I do not have the reverse gear input hooked up (thats just for a back up camera right?).

    Any help guys?

Welcome to CAT. that sounds pretty messed up.. the METRA kit is basically plug and play, isn't it?

sounds like there's something wrong with the kit. the link provided below is the wiring for your car stereo. you may want to go over everything again just to make sure. if your problem is still there then i would get another kit. that's kinda weird with the passenger door though.

Thanks for the responses guys! I looked at the wiring schematics and it looks to me like I did wire it correctly. Its a plug and play harness that has a little control box that adds a switched 12v since the can bus system doesnt have it. Im guessing that box is not working properly.

Ill keep you guys updated in the future, i plan on doing a custom false floor in the back since the wagon has so much floor space and room below.

I would check the driver door pin switch. If its shuting off on the passenger door and not the driver door would suggest a pin switch problem
