hehe,, hey all.. how is everyone doing? been a while.. I have a very bizarre problem. I sold old blue.. (the truck) and I kept all of the back pounding stuff. I took out the deck, and about a week later, tried to install it into my lady's jeep. at first, it worked fine, (for about two minutes.) but I noticed that it would sound fine when the radio was being played, but then when I put a cd in, I would get nothing from the door speaks, but the subs would play noise. eject the cd, and voila.. clear crisp sound from the radio.. put the cd back in, nothing but subs. very strange indeed.. so I decided to take it back out to tinker with it, and now, the display went completely blank. this eclipse cd8445 has been a great unit, is it just jeep-a-phobic? this head unit is relatively new, and has never been abused (dropped, beaten, etc..) and the strange thing is, that all of the backlights still work, and the deck is still functioning. (still doing the wierd cd thing too) I cannot explain what is happening, and it is difficult now to tinker with, now that I cannot see anything on the display. I have hit the little reset button on the front of the unit, and that did not help. just wondering if you fellas had any suggestions before I start shopping for a new unit. thanks guys
no kidding haunt what do you do? die and then raise from the dead? stupid ? as i assume knowing you with your experience would of tried this, but have you tried cleaning the contacts on the face and on the unit?

hey everybody.. nice to see you all here kicking strong..(blush) yes, azn.. those tempests are still pounding strong.. even though one of them is somewhat fried.. (makes noise when it hits ultra low tones). sounds just fine about 50hz and above. - amazing that it's fried, and still sounds pretty good. cannot brag enough about tempest just started doing that, and hmm... Adire audio just went out of business. -imagine that? (what's up caddy?) no excuses for not being here friends.. haven't been very active in the car audio world lately.. have been enjoying what I have.. now it's time to do some fixing.. just bought a new titan, so I'll be looking to build a sub enclosure for the back seat, maybe 2 10's or 1 12..(not nearly as monstrous as the last one, though). and I'll be looking for a DD touch screen dvd/mp3.. -crazy that I put the old eclipse in my gal's truck and the thing started being a goober. I think it just misses the old blue ford. You all have a great day.. I gotta get to work.
this unit has a motorized faceplate which kicks out and down, and there are no contacts to clean unless I take the tiny little ribbon cable off (whick looks like it might require a certification in brain surgery) so I have avoided trying that thus far.. thanks Cad.

ya azn.. thanks.. I was snooping a couple of weeks ago and found that. I'm thinkin I gotta check out the tempestx.. that thing looks pretty nasty.. might be a nice upgrade. thanks to you too caddy.. I will take it all apart and tinker with it when I get back from vacation. I'll let you all know how things go. -haute
