have a pioneer n-5. Several people have asked about hooking a hard drive to it so I could download all my music and videos on the hard drive and access it through my head unit. Has anybody done this? I know I can do it with an ipod, but don't know if it can be done with just a hard drive. Any info would be appreciated. On my av menu screen there is a button for a usb connection, but I don't know if I would be able to access/control the usb devise through it or if it's just an input for stuff like MP3 players. I would be willing to do it with an ipod, but there is more storage on an external hard drive.
First, I editted your signature and removed one of your posts. I will not tollerate spamming here. Now for your question, I have used a portable harddrives with the Pioneer radios with good results. The Harddrive needs to be formated FAT32, not NTFS. Also, I've heard that the Pioneer takes a while to access really large drives, I don't know, the largest drive I used was an 80GB WD harddrive. The Pioneer radio accessed it pretty quick. I was able to navigate folders and songs in folders. So no problem
