alright search for grand cherokee tweeters and you see that they really SUCK. actually its not the tweeters its the stock amp. it treats the tweeters as regular speakers so thats why they crap out. i was wondering if this would work: these tweeters: Parts Expressioneer FD66AP45-13F 2-1/2" Cone Tweeter and a bass stopper: Parts Express:Bass Stopper 2.8 kHz/1.4 kHz what i want out of the tweeters is all highs and no bass at all. is this a high or low enough bass stopper? also if you dont like these tweeters find me some other ones that are the same size. i can only fit 2.5" in there and dont want to do any modifying
that would work...with the first order filter I'd go for a higher crossover point...If it were me I'd go with a 2nd order filter
Parts Express:Tang Band 28-847SD Shielded Neodymium Dome Tweeter Parts Express:Tang Band 25-1414SC 1" Titanium Dome Tweeter
I could proably get the 2nd tweeters. im not sure if the 1st one would fit because of the depth, also i dont know if the screw holes will fit either. Im really lost on the filter stuff you guys are talking about.
i looked into it and your dash speakers are most likely the same size as found in my moms neon. 2 1/2in. you shouls have at least 3 in of depth to mount a tweet in there.i choose this one Parts Express:Tang Band 28-847SD Shielded Neodymium Dome Tweeter for how low it got in frequency. so it could blend well with a mid range. but you may not need one seeing as how you got a 6x9 in your door. any really good coaxial should sound great in there. also note that those 2 in there now may be 8 ohm speaker wired in parellel to get a 4 ohm final load to the factory head/amp.
i do need the tweeters because the sound just all comes from the back when there disconnected. I actually like the tweeters in my jeep because it balances the sound out. Ill probably still need bass blockers unless these tweets have a lifetime warranty
dont go with bass blockers. go with a good passive xover. Parts Express:5 kHz High Pass 4 Ohm Crossover
